Ryan was very active in life.
He loved rollerblading, riding his 4-wheeler, football,
baseball and fishing (basically just about anything outdoors).
Ryan also loved spending time with his family and friends. He
was always easy going and very smart.
In 1999 when his parents started building Spring Creek Farm,
Ryan inspired them to open a café inside the General Store.
Ryan, a cooking natural, always liked to please everyone with
great food, fun and happiness. In 2003, just before Christmas,
Ryan was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Osteosarcoma. He had
been misdiagnosed for about a year before we learned about
this cancer which eventually took his life. On December 11,
2008 at 21, Ryan passed away leaving behind his own legacy.
Fulfilling one of his wishes, his parent's opened Son’s Café
at Spring Creek Farm General Store, in honor and memory of
Ryan.
Ryan wanted people to be educated about the disease that took
his life in hopes of helping to save another child. Through
his misdiagnosis, the importance of an early diagnosis is the
message he wanted to spread. He also wanted to help other kids
with cancer to have the opportunity to go to college. As a
result, the Ryan L. Mahoney Scholarship Fund was organized
with Ryan’s counsel before he passed away.
Ryan will forever be missed. He lives on today through his
family and friends, sharing the life he lived with all of us. |
